Description
This was the last drawing I did in 2008, just about 15-30 minutes before the New Year, while vacationing in North Carolina.
As some of you know, my Grandma (Margarita Rodriguez) had passed away on the 28th of December at the age of 83, due to pancreatic cancer. This was one of two drawings I did in tribute to her (the other was done on Christmas evening, just three days before her passing; I will post that next). I did this one in about 15 or 20 minutes, and wanted it to be really beautiful. This has a majestic Rekira clutching a rose in his teeth, and I couldn't think of a more poetic way for my character to make a tribute to my Grandma.
Done in mechanical pencil and Derwent colored pencils.

I think it is pretty sweet. Both of my grandmas have passed (one in 1995, the other late last year). It's also done very well, and the emotion does get through.
